Where do the campers come from?

We currently have campers from 42 different states attending Experience Camps. As long as the camper can get to one of our bus or airport pickup locations, we’ll get them there!

Who works at Experience Camps?

Our camp staff is a combination of seasoned camp professionals, licensed mental health professionals, doctors, nurses, certified life guards, high school guidance counselors, teachers, coaches, college athletes, and many others who have a passion for camp and a desire to provide an amazing experience for our campers.

We conduct background checks on all volunteers and staff.

Do the staff have experience with bereavement counseling?

All of our counselors participate in a grief training program led by our licensed mental health professionals who specialize in grief work. A number of our volunteers have also experienced the loss of a parent or sibling personally and wish to share their journeys with our campers.

Is this camp ACA accredited

All of our host camps are accredited by the American Camp Association, which means they have been recognized for following a set of procedures and guidelines to ensure the highest quality of safety and experience for the campers that attend those camps. Our program is not in itself accredited, however we do follow the same guidelines established by the ACA for camper safety, counselor to camper ratios, water safety procedures, and more.

How do we get to camp?

We require that all campers take the bus to camp to maximize their time spent getting to know other campers.

For the Georgia program, buses are provided from the Atlanta airport and Sandy Springs. We ask our South Florida families to register for the group flight option when enrolling.

For California, buses are provided from Riverside, Inglewood, Mission Valley, Escondido, and an airport pickup at the San Diego airport.

For Pennsylvania, buses are provided from the Upper East Side of New York City, White Plains, Middletown, NY, and Philadelphia, as well as an airport pickup at LaGuardia.

For Maine, buses are provided from Newton, MA, Portsmouth, NH, Brunswick, ME, Augusta, ME.

For Michigan, buses are provided from Chicago, Paw Paw, and Detroit.

For Maryland, buses are provided from Washington, DC and Baltimore.

What activities do you offer at camp?

We’ve put together a selection of the best activities that a summer camp has to offer. We have land sports, water sports and creative activities. We have integrated the camp program with bereavement activities and projects designed to help the campers express feelings, explore memories, build confidence, and find comfort in the presence of their peers.

How much does it cost?

Experience Camps are entirely free to campers, thanks to the generosity of our donors.
