MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Experience Camps’ Mentorship Program matches rising high school juniors with an adult volunteer “mentor.” Mentors are current or former Experience Camps staff members matched in a two-year relationship with current or former Experience Camps campers.

Mentors will connect monthly with their mentees to coach them through the emotional and practical components of the transition from high-school to college or other endeavors.  The goals of the program are to offer emotional and social support and provide them with the skills and counsel to help achieve their pre-set goals. Mentors can offer new experiences and perspective during these challenging and formidable years in a young person’s life. This relationship should build on the strength of the bonds and openness that are initiated at camp to help campers become productive, motivated, self-confident adults.

Mentors will be provided a formal training and structured outline of the program along with a few goals set forth by the camper and his or her caregiver. Both the mentor, mentee, and caregiver will be required to sign a contract agreeing to the conditions of the relationship and to submitting regularly scheduled status updates and reviews. The relationship is monitored and evaluated by the Mentorship Program Coordinator.
